A 14-mile two-lane portion of the Bella Vista bypass is under way, partially funded from the 10-year, ½ cent sales tax for highways approved by Arkansas voters on 11/6/12. The Bella Vista bypass is designed to be four lanes It will become a part of I-49 when additional funding is obtained and the other two lanes are built. The new highway tax is also helping to expand I-540 to six lanes between Fayetteville and Bentonville; I-540 will become a part of I-49.

Bypass ribbon cutting set for Sept. 30 at Arkansas-Missouri border

The 18.9-mile Missouri-Arkansas Connector, or Bella Vista Bypass, will become a new Interstate 49 segment between Pineville, Mo., and Bentonville when it opens to traffic in late September or early October and the project is within budget. A ribbon-cutting for the project is planned for Sept. 30.
