I-49 from Shreveport to the Arkansas border is open!
Look how far we've come!
The I-49 North Extension from Shreveport to the Arkansas border is more than half complete, with the remainder under contract or construction except for an interchange at I-220 in Shreveport. A groundbreaking ceremony was held on 4/12/13 to begin construction on the 10th of 11 segments of I-49 between Shreveport and Arkansas. By the end of 2013, several of these segments will be open to traffic between Shreveport and the Arkansas border! The interchange at I-220 will be going to bid in December of this year, with an estimated completion time of three years. The Inner-City Connector through Shreveport will take longer to complete, with the I-220 Bypass serving as the Alternate I-49 route until then.
